City Finance Brokers expands into Wales and the South West
Mortgage and finance broker City Finance Brokers (CFB) has expanded its operations to Wales and the South West of England, as it continues to roll out expansion outside London.

As part of the initiative, it has appointed Chris Dawson as regional manager for Wales and West.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, kicking off his career as an independent financial adviser (IFA) and then working as area and regional director for Halifax Bank and Lloyds TSB.

In 2015, he set up his own headhunting business for the financial services industry, which he will continue to run alongside his new role as regional manager. He is based in Cardiff (pictured).

Dawson said: “My main priority is to grow a team of experienced brokers– enabling them to complement their current customer offering with all the skills and lending capacity of a 360 degree broker, while broadening their lending capability into all areas of tailored property finance.”

Demand for complex mortgage advice

Establishing a Wales and West presence for CFB follows the announcement in July 2019 of the appointment of Simon Kelly in Taunton, South West England – the first broker to be appointed by the business outside of London.

Mark Horne, founder and managing director at CFB, added: “There is increasing demand for complex mortgage advice not just in London but around the country.  Our Wales and West team will link with Simon in the South West as well as with the London office in order to share advice and expertise.

“Our expansion plans will now focus on building the presence of CFB in the Wales and West region and we are interested in hearing from experienced brokers in these areas.”

In April, CFB appointed a management team to roll out its expansion plans, with the firm aiming to triple the size of the business in the next three years.

The management team includes Mark Horne, founder of CFB, Andrew Gillon, who joined from Capital Private Finance and was a former area director at Hamptons International, and James Chisnall, who previously worked for John Charcol.
