Four mortgage industry representatives have completed a 100km walk across the South Downs and raised more than £7,000 for charity.

The quartet, dubbed The Second Chargers, were (pictured left to right at the finish), Paul Stringer from Norton Finance, Jonathan White from Mortgage Brain, Paul Ford from Fluent Money and Buster Tolfree from United Trust Bank, along with support team Graham Lindsay and Kelly Lyons.

They finished the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker challenge in 25 hours 34 minutes over the weekend of the 20-22 September.

The event was originally scheduled for July 2018 but was postponed with only 36 hours’ notice due to the extreme heat of more than 30c.

“Despite our disappointment and 12 months of training, we pledged to walk when the event was rescheduled,” said White.

“Despite real challenges along the way, we completed the event in 25 hours 34 minutes. We were totally physically and mentally exhausted but thrilled to have contributed £7,505 towards Oxfam and The Queens Gurkha Trust.

“Our thanks go to everyone who donated – their support inspired us during the difficult periods,” White added.

Starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire, the Trailwalker route took in the historical South Downs Way to the finish line at Brighton Racecourse.

The team is still accepting donations through its just giving page and the total is rapidly approaching £8,000.
