Air academy suspends fees thanks to lender funding
Air Later Life Academy, the commercial and training organisation for later life advisers, has suspended its membership fees for firms during the coronavirus lockdown.

The suspension of fees is being jointly funded by Canada Life and More 2 Life. The suspension begins in May and will continue until lockdown measures are lifted.

It will help close to 400 existing members and any new firms that apply to join the academy during the pandemic.

Air Later Life Academy (LLA) was launched in 2014 and offers later life advisers access to training and sales support in areas such as equity release, long-term care and annuities.

Air Group recently launched an updated version of Air Sourcing, its free platform for advisers, with tools and filters to help users identify all the latest product and criteria changes made because of the coronavirus crisis.

There is also a coronavirus hub to support advisers.

Stuart Wilson (pictured), chief executive of Air Group, said: “We have taken this decision to suspend fees in light of the current situation all our member firms are facing.

“While we acknowledge that academy membership fees are not the biggest of financial burdens, we wanted firms to know we stand shoulder to shoulder with them through these challenging times.”

Alice Watson, head of marketing, insurance at Canada Life, said: “In such unprecedented times it’s vital to show our support to later life advisers.

“Consumers, now more than ever, need access to highly qualified and regulated advice and I’m pleased that by supporting Air LLA we can help ease the financial pressure for member firms and their advisers.”
