Atom Bank joins Sesame’s network panel
Atom Bank, the app-only mortgage lender which hit a £3bn lending milestone last year, has partnered with Sesame to offer its mortgages through Sesame's network of brokers.

From today, the move expands Sesame’s access to Atom’s prime and near prime mortgages, as well as supporting its ambitious growth targets for 2022. The bank lent £510m in 2021.

Paula Mercer, head of lending at Atom Bank (pictured), said: “We are delighted to be able to extend our incredible prime and near prime mortgage offering to more customers, by partnering with Sesame. As one of only a handful of near prime mortgage lenders we’re committed to making mortgages more accessible and this partnership will only help us further to do so.”

Stephanie Charman, head of strategic relationships at Sesame Bankhall Group, said: “We are delighted to add Atom Bank to our Sesame Network panel. It’s a lender that’s taken an innovative approach to lending and technology solutions, which we know will be of interest to our members. We look forward to working closely with Atom Bank.”

Signaling its lending ambitions, Atom confirmed a £500m buy-to-let (BTL) funding partnership deal with Landbay in November, to allow it to leverage Landbay’s lending platform and broker distribution network.

Atom already offers remortgage, home mover, first-time buyer, product transfer and less-than-perfect credit mortgage products.

It is the first in a series of planned partnerships for the bank, with more expected in the near future.

In late-November Atom began a four-day working week for its employees with no salary reduction.

The bank said the move came after a “robust review process”, which assessed productivity, effectiveness, available resources and impact on external partners and stakeholders, and found there would be no risk to customer service or operations.

Atom launched in 2016 as a mobile-only but intermediary-led lender and PMS Mortgage Club and Sesame bring together over 10,000 professional financial advisers.
