He was previously regional advice delivery manager with the advice arm of Key.
In the newly created position, O’Connell will manage the more than 80 self-employed advisers at The Equity Release Experts, the advice arm of Key.
He will also develop productive relationships with introducer partners.
O’Connell said: “With the later life lending market growing faster than ever, I am delighted to be stepping up into this newly created position at The Equity Release Experts.
“This feels like a natural progression for me as it will allow me to use my experience to better support our entire self-employed network. I look forward to working closely with the team to achieve our long-term goals as well as continuing to provide excellent levels of customer service.”
