The transaction completed on Friday and the size of the stake was not disclosed.
The duo will team up with Joanne Jones, solicitor at the firm, and the company’s existing partners.
Simpson Jones has an office in Derby and Ashby De La Zouch, and was incorporated in 2010. The firm has around 37 employees, including Chapman and Wareham, and made 2,500 completions in the last financial year.
The firm does conveyancing work, which covers moving home and remortgaging, investment properties, transfer of equity, new build and auction properties.
Simpson Jones also undergoes wills and probate work, which covers wills, lasting power of attorney, probate, care fees and tax and trusts planning and court of protection.
Chapman said that following his and Wareham’s departure from Countrywide they had identified an “opportunity to make a difference in what we see as an underserved conveyancing market”.

Chapman worked for nearly a decade at Countrywide, joining as group professional services director in 2011 before becoming chief operating officer in 2018. He held this role for just over two years.
After that he become an associate director of The Moving Portal, which operates a national panel of RICS Chartered Surveyors in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Wareham worked at Countrywide between 2013 and 2018, working initially in its surveying services business and then becoming managing director of its business to business division. He then took on the role of director at Novello Chartered Surveyors.
Prior to that he worked at Colleys Surveyors and Halifax.
