Luxury asset lender Suros Capital has appointed Helena Khizam (pictured) as its managing director, with a remit to grow the business among intermediaries, firms working with high net worth individuals and corporates.
She was most recently a partner and chief executive of technology platform provider Captec Systems for nearly six years.
Khizam also worked concurrently as consultant at Crestline Investors for around six years and before that was director at Tanazir Capital Consulting.
Prior to that she worked in investor relations at Securis Investment Partners and has also gained experience at HSBC Asset Management and BlueBay Asset Management among others.
Helena said she was delighted to join the firm and her challenge was to “generate greater acceptance and understanding of our proposition among advisers and their potential customers”.
“I want to make borrowing against luxury assets as normal and straightforward as it is against bricks and mortar,” she said.
She continued that she was excited about the lender’s prospects as it offered a real world alternative to traditional short-term lending, but it would be introducing new initiatives as it increased its efforts to be a “positive disruptor in the short-term lending sector”.
Khizam added: “It takes time to generate wholesale confidence in business concepts that seem to challenge accepted norms, but I want to position Suros Capital’s offering as complementary to traditional bridging.
“Therefore, we will look to build trust in our brand by demonstrating the simplicity and effectiveness of our proposition, the levels of security we provide for the assets left in our care and our total commitment to client privacy.”
