Aldermore Bank has teamed up with cloud-based education platform Everfi to help educate young people about finances and build their financial confidence.

The mobile-based resource Aspire will be rolled out to 25 schools in Greater Manchester and Cardiff with a view to extend this further, especially in deprived areas.

It will be free to use and aimed at 14 to 18-year-olds.

Aspire offers guided interactive exercises to help users practice making financial decisions. Each topic is a three to six minute module and covers areas such as current and savings accounts, creating a budget and planning for retirement.

Steven Cooper, CEO of Aldermore said: “This strategic partnership with Everfi in the UK enables young people to build their financial confidence, establish a healthy relationship with money, and helps them achieve their future goals.

“Your background shouldn’t determine your future. And yet, for too many people in our society, it does. Providing access to financial education is one important tool to disrupt this pattern.”

He added: “But we can’t allow this support to just end when people leave education – we need to provide opportunities to people from all backgrounds when they enter the world of work as well. That’s why at Aldermore we provide a programme of apprenticeships right across our business. And it’s why I personally co-chair The Equality of Opportunity Coalition, an organisation that encourages companies to begin measuring the socioeconomic makeup of their employees, as a first step towards building a workforce that encompasses those from all walks of life.”

Nick Fuller, Everfi international president said: “Understanding your finances and making sound financial decisions is key to a strong future, but many people don’t know where to turn to get the information they need in a way that is easily digestible and understandable. This programme is a testimony to Everfi’s commitment to providing financial education to learners of all ages and we commend Aldermore for making this commitment.”
