Green Mortgages partners with Propflo to host retrofit valuation tool

Specialist mortgage broker Green Mortgages has partnered with Propflo to host the firm’s energy efficiency retrofit valuation tool on its website.
By combining Green Mortgages’ knowledge of green financial products and Propflo’s GreenVal software, the brokerage hopes to provide a more seamless experience between guiding homeowners through the improvement process and financing the works.
The UK Committee on Climate Change estimates that £250bn needs to be invested in UK home upgrades by 2050. That translates into 80,000 homes that need to be retrofitted every month, according to built environment expert UKGBC.
Luke Loveridge, Propflo‘s founder and CEO, says homeowners lack information about how to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and how to pay for the works.
Michael Kallaras, managing director of Green Mortgages, said: “The green mortgage market has grown from a handful of products to over 60 today, and we know that many lenders are gearing up to launch innovative green finance products over the coming months and years. With our expertise being now supported by the Propflo platform, we’ll be in a strong position to provide our customers with significant added value.”
The Green Val tool allows homeowners to view the short- and long-term benefits and costs associated with making a property more energy efficient and provides quotes for a wide range of home improvements, from accredited local and national suppliers.

Mortgage Solutions’ analysis revealed that brokers are being put off from instigating discussions about energy efficiency because they lack knowledge in this area. Furthermore, past home improvement scandals have deterred them from asking questions about their clients’ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings, with the objective of referring them to retrofitting firms.
However, advisers say they are open to finding out more about partnerships with companies that can help them to deliver this service.
