Buy-to-let (BTL) specialist lender Fleet Mortgages has appointed David Lockwood (pictured) as a business development manager (BDM) for North London.

Lockwood will report to sales manager Dave Husbands and work closely with Jason Blignaut, internal BDM for North London.

He will start immediately in the role and will look after and cultivate new advisory firm relationships in the area.

Lockwood was most recently at Coventry Building Society as a BDM for around three years. Before that, he was at Metro Bank for more than five years, initially as a customer service representative.

He then progressed to a mortgage help desk representative, and then became a business development consultant.

Including Lockwood, Fleet Mortgages has around 19 members in its BDM team, which includes internal and external BDMs as well as key account managers.

Steve Cox, chief commercial officer at Fleet Mortgages, said: “We’ve always had a considerable focus on having the best BDM team we could possibly have, as we know how important quality sales representatives are to advisers.

“So, we’re very pleased to be able to welcome David to the team, who comes to us with excellent experience, knowledge and understanding not just of the wider advisory marketplace, and their needs, but also specifically of the buy-to-let sector.”

He added: “David will be working closely with Jason to provide advisory firms in the North London region with a raft of support and resource[s], and specifically will be working with advisers to show them how Fleet can provide the finance they require for their landlord borrowers, across our three core product ranges – standard, limited company and HMO/multi-unit block.

“I’m sure David will be an excellent addition to our team and we would urge advisers within his ‘patch’ to get in contact to see how he and Fleet can support their buy-to-let advice activity.”
