Pepper Money has appointed Michelle Walsh to the role of regional development manager (BDM) for the North West.

Walsh was most recently a BDM at Nationwide, where she worked for around 12 years.

Prior to that, she was a branch manager at Britannia Building Society for around 11 years.

Pepper Money said the appointment underscored its “dedication to recruiting top talent from across the industry”.

“Her knowledge and customer-first mindset will strengthen Pepper’s ability to deliver financial solutions for brokers and their customers with circumstances requiring a more nuanced approach. These customers may include the self-employed, those with irregular incomes, first-time buyers and borrowers with thin credit files,” the lender said.

Ryan Brailsford, business development director at Pepper Money, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Michelle to the team at Pepper Money. She brings a strong understanding of the market and has consistently shown a commitment to building solid relationships with brokers.

“Her arrival comes at a time when more brokers are turning to specialist lenders like us to help find solutions for customers who don’t always fit the standard criteria. Whether it’s credit history or other circumstances, we’ve built a reputation for being able to look at cases differently and offer practical options.

“As more customers look at ways to move or get onto the property ladder, it’s important we keep building a team that understands the challenges brokers face. Michelle’s expertise will be instrumental in helping us to continue to deliver outstanding service and outcomes.”

Walsh added: “I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career, joining a team at Pepper Money that’s well-established and known for supporting brokers with practical, reliable service.

“With the need for specialist solutions only growing, coupled with increased pressure on customers’ affordability, I look forward to working closely with our broker partners to find the right solutions for many more customers in the North West.”

Pepper Money recently promoted Nicholas East to the role of BDM in its second charge team.
