Cambridge and Counties Bank recruits Hanrahan as CFO
Cambridge and Counties Bank has appointed Richard Hanrahan as its CFO, taking over from Andrea Hodgson, who is moving on to pursue a career as non-executive director.
Hanrahan was most recently in a similar role at Qatar National Bank in the UK, where he oversaw the financial management of the UK branch of the business and built a finance team. He was in this role for almost two years.
Before this, he worked at Lloyd Banking Group (LBG) for 15 years, where he undertook a number of senior positions in finance, treasury, strategy and portfolio management. While at LBG, Hanrahan also spent three years as its SME and corporate relationship manager.
He is also a qualified accountant, chartered financial analyst and chartered banker.
At Cambridge and Counties Bank, Hanrahan will report to chief executive Donald Kerr and sit on the bank’s board.
Kerr said: “We are very pleased to welcome someone of Richard’s calibre and exceptional experience to the senior team.

“Richard will play an intrinsic role in helping the bank to continue delivering on our organisational excellence and turning our strategic focus into results.”
Hanrahan (pictured) added: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Cambridge and Counties Bank at a time of significant growth.
“The bank is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory, and I look forward to working with the team to continue delivering on our strategic priorities, with the aim of becoming the specialist SME bank of choice in the UK.”
Hanrahan’s appointment comes as the lender saw its highest level of gross new lending for 2023, reaching £328m. This was 6% higher than the previous year.
The specialist lender recently expanded its real estate finance team with three new hires, including Lewis Ashford as a senior business development manager (BDM) for the South West, Emma Harris as a relationship manager for the Yorkshire region and Victoria Pearce as a BDM for the Midlands.
