Poll: Brokers feel the heat from comparison sites
A Mortgage Solutions survey has revealed that the majority of brokers feel threatened by the power of comparison websites to hold sway in the consumer press to the detriment of the intermediary market.

Following the Moneysupermarket.com debacle where it claimed that 90% of the best mortgage deals were direct-only and then retracted its figures after protests from brokers, the Mortgage Solutions survey showed that 57% of brokers felt threatened by comparison sites and how vocal they were in the media.

Nevertheless, 35% said they were not intimidated by such sites, while 8% were undecided.

This week’s question is: The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has reported that demand for housing fell for the second consecutive month in July, while the National Association of Estate Agents contradicted this with figures showing rising demand in the same month. What is demand like for mortgages?

Have your say in the poll.
