Poll: Should the Help to Buy mortgage guarantee be axed?
Business secretary Vince Cable has joined the list of critics warning the Help to Buy mortgage guarantee scheme could cause a house price bubble.

The mortgage guarantee scheme is set to launch at the start of 2014 but there have been calls to either restrict the scheme or to cancel it altogether.

“We should certainly think about how it should come into effect, whether indeed it should come into effect, in the light of changing market conditions,” Cable said earlier this week.

“We don’t want a new housing bubble.”
