Legal and General Homes invests £500m in housebuilding factories

Sounds like a great start to building the 250,000 homes needed each year for the next 10 years.

How tough do first-time buyers really have it?

With house prices rising faster then the minimum wage, the only way for the market to go is up. The faster people try to save, the faster properties become unaffordable. The UK needs to quash the BTL market and bring back interest only mortgages.

House price rises hobble first-time buyer savers – Star Letter 19/02/16

Lisa Peach-Hill

Its not just Southern homebuyers with this problem. I live in Lancashire and its the same here as wages are a lot lower, and I’ve also lived and worked in Eastbourne and seen the same problem.

I read last week that less than 18% of the under 35s now will ever own their own property. I have four children, one who is disabled and may never work. My plan is to buy four buy to lets over the next 10 years, keep one for my disabled child who may not be able to work and sell the other three when my three girls need a house deposit.

I never really wanted the responsibility of being a landlady but its a needs must. I’d hate to see my kids working hard to pay extortionate rent and never have any real security. I really feel bad for the families that have neither the expertise or spare money to do this, even with the Help to Buy scheme so many are priced out of buying.

Is it just me or half of those examples they gave possible to place with lenders in the UK? One year’s accounts can be done all day everyday at potentially normal rates, subject to everything else. The self-employed contractor can be done, again subject to everything else. And the last one may also be possible once they have one year’s accounts.
