Each week Mortgage Solutions and its sister title Specialist Lending Solutions select the best contributions from readers as Star Letter.
Both comments this week came from the article: Dodgy landlord fined for fourth time over ‘appalling’ conditions.
John Grant Angeletta kicked off the discussion as he said: “Maybe it’s time for legislation requiring all landlords to obtain a local authority license to let?
“Only the unethical landlord may have something to fear from such regulation.”
Dave Evans added: “Fourth time? Any landlord found in breach a second time should have the property subject to a compulsory purchase order at its market value in its current state.
“Probably almost nil in this case. It’s unacceptable to house people in such conditions.”
