Stop punishing existing borrowers – JLM
As the new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, was giving his prepared speech on Monday morning – effectively rowing back on almost every tax-cutting measure announced in the mini Budget – we were all hoping this would provide the necessary ‘calm’ the markets were looking for, and that gilt yields and swap rates would begin to fall and the market’s anticipation of what rates might be in the future would also drop back.
