The IMLA Conference

IMLA represents the views and interests of UK mortgage lenders involved in the generation of mortgage business via professional financial intermediaries.
Thank you to everyone who attended our IMLA Conference on 19th June at Leeds Football Club.
The next IMLA Conference will be held on 27th November at Select Car Leasing Stadium, Reading. It is the fifth event in the series and is aimed specifically at the new joiners to the industry, which will be a mix of newcomers to both lenders and intermediary firms. The objective of the event is to give delegates a broad knowledge of the constituent parts of the market, the key drivers behind the direction of travel of the industry and also exposure to the experience and insight from IMLA and senior industry colleagues to build individual networks, inspire progression and provide access to the tools and confidence to thrive and progress to the very top.

Chair, IMLA and head of sales, mortgage intermediaries, HSBC UK

Richard has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
He started his career at Scottish Life Assurance as a life and pensions consultant, before joining Platform Home Loans as a business development manager in 1999, working his way up to become head of sales.
He joined Lehman Brothers in 2007 as director of sales for one of its intermediary mortgage brands, SPML. Following Lehman Brothers exit from the UK mortgage market in 2008, he worked briefly for a specialist insurance company, Exchange Bond before joining Countrywide as an account director, where he was responsible for setting up and developing its surveying, conveyancing and asset management proposition.
Richard joined HSBC in June 2015 as head of sales and is responsible for HSBC UK’s external intermediary distribution, managing a team of over 50 corporate account managers, heads of Regions and business development managers. Richard is also deputy chair of the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association.

CFO, Kensington, director of pricing, trading and commercial management, Barclays

Simon is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in banking and finance. He has held a number of roles within finance at the Ministry of Defence, GE, Genworth and Barclays, covering audit, controllership, FP&A and leading business partnering/FD teams.
Outside of finance, Simon has several years’ experience leading commercial teams – most recently responsible for the commercial performance, pricing and lending policy across Barclays’ mortgages, savings and insurance businesses.

Chief executive, LMS

Nick is the award-winning CEO at conveyancing services provider, LMS.
Since joining in 2016, Nick has led LMS’ digital transformation, enhancing systems and processes which has resulted in significant growth across the business.
With nearly 25 years of experience in financial services, Nick has successfully led businesses throughout the credit crunch and transformed business models with innovative and sustainable strategies.
He continues to innovate and lead LMS through an exciting period of growth whilst maintaining the ability to deliver high standards of service and improve operational efficiencies within the sector.

Executive director, IMLA

Kate studied German at Durham University and started her career in local government, then moved to the Building Societies Association/Council of Mortgage Lenders, where she became the CML’s specialist on mortgage regulation.
Since leaving the CML in 2008, Kate has worked freelance for a number of trade associations and served for six years as a non-executive director at the Darlington Building Society.
She succeeded Peter Williams as IMLA’s executive director in January 2018.

Aldermore

Nicola has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry and currently leads the strategic partnerships strategy for growth at Aldermore. She is focused on bringing the Aldermore purpose of ‘backing more people to go for it in life and business’ to life. She is also co-deputy chair of IMLA and leads the IMLA Diversity and Inclusion Group.

Owner and managing director, Prolific Mortgage Finance

Lea has been working in the financial services industry for over 25 years. He started his career straight from university in compliance at Canada Life, then migrated over to sales in the early 2000s, when he first began broking in the city.
After several years as a broker, Lea founded Prolific Mortgage Finance in 2010, where he is owner and managing director and continues to advise and support his client bank.
Prolific has won multiple industry awards, such as Best Broker at the Mortgage Introducer Awards and The Mortgage Awards, while Lea has also won a Business Leader award at the British Mortgage Awards. Prolific has submitted well over £1bn in mortgage business and continues to submit strong levels supporting its growing client bank.

Chief sustainability officer, OSB Group

Neil Richardson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the financial services and property consultancy sectors. He currently serves as chief sustainability officer at OSB Group Plc, leading the implementation of the Group’s ESG strategy and initiatives aimed at enhancing stakeholder value.
Neil’s career includes roles such as group real estate director at OSB, where he developed and implemented successful valuation, real estate advisory and corporate real estate strategies and policies. With a background as a chartered surveyor and associate member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Neil brings strong leadership, technical expertise and effective communication skills to drive change and inspire teams.

Commercial director, Paragon Bank

Louisa has been working in the financial services industry for over 30 years, primarily in mortgages, with a real focus on buy-to-let.
She has held a number of senior roles and is currently commercial director at Paragon Bank, where she is responsible for mortgage products and distribution.
Paragon Bank is a specialist buy-to-let lender and has been helping landlords to deliver flexibility for those who rent their home for over 30 years.

Green mortgage campaign lead, Green Finance Institute

Chloe Timperley, green mortgage campaign lead, Green Finance Institute
Chloe’s role is to empower the mortgage industry to unlock sustainable homes for the mass market.
This involves leading industry summits, close collaboration with key stakeholders, and delivery of the GFI’s Green Mortgages Certificate training.
With a background in regulatory policy and financial planning, Chloe previously led the cross-industry Green Mortgage Advice Initiative (GMAI) at the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI), and she is also the author of an acclaimed book on the UK housing crisis.
