Private Finance has predicted properties over £1m will see price rises of up to 10% this year, as sustained demand in the elite property market pushes up values.

Melanie Bien, director of communications for Private Finance, said the high end market has been relatively buoyant and protected from industry volatility in contrast with the mainstream borrowing sector. The brokerage has recorded a high volume of enquiries from high-net-worth clients looking for specialist advice, she said.

Private Finance’s confidence in the high-net-worth market is such that it has launched a prime Central London brokerage team dedicated to the £1m plus property market.

Led by former Savills Private Finance associate director Jonathan Harris and based in Mayfair, Harris will be joined by Knight Frank founding member Tim Nye in July and Adrian Anderson, another Savills broker, in mid-September. Two more Private  Finance brokers will be part of the team with further recruitment planned.

The high-net-worth team will manage Private Finance’s exclusive relationships with estate agency firms Strutt & Parker and Jackson-Stops & Staff.

Bien said: “The top end of the market seems to be fairly resilient and we are seeing a lot of overseas clients and people with complex income streams who are earning bonuses again.

“There is a need for a full-time dedicated team because funding is still hard to come by and clients need to know what the private banks are doing.”
