Business confidence up despite economic gloom
Nearly half of all businesses expect to outperform the economy and grow turnover in the next six months, despite two-thirds expecting UK growth to falter over the rest of 2011.
A survey from Charterhouse Research has highlighted a real sense of resilience amongst UK businesses, with 46% still expecting to experience growth over the next six months, compared to only 7% who believe their business will decline.
“Our study has shown that despite all the economic doom and gloom, there is a real fighting spirit amongst UK businesses. It is clear that they are more positive about their own prospects for growth than the UK economy overall, regardless of the size of their business,” said Mark Dennis, director at Charterhouse Research.
The survey of 3,126 businesses was taken between April and June 2011, ranging from start-ups to companies with a turnover of £1bn.
