Coventry Building Society has maintained its “A” long-term rating from Fitch Ratings Service.

The UK’s third largest building society said that it has remained A-rated by both Fitch and Moody’s throughout the credit crisis.

The confirmation followed Fitch’s downgrade of both Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland to an A rating from AA- last month.

Coventry Building Society said the rating reflected its consistently strong results, ongoing profitability, asset quality and its cost efficiency.
