Gateway targets South East growth after 70% surge in business
Surveying firm Gateway is to boost its London and South East operation following a 70% year-on-year rise in business volumes.
Gateway attributed the increase in business to the firm’s close relationship with the building societies sector and in-house surveying operation.
Marcus Radcliffe, managing director of Gateway, said:“We won some panel management contracts in 2010 and 2011, which meant that we were in control of volumes for the building societies that we work with.
“The other reason we’ve increased is because we have our own in-house surveying business called SONAS and that has got 80 surveyors. This means we have the capacity to support and deliver to other organisations.”
Radcliffe added that the firm will initially increase its in-house team in London and the South East, before branching out to the North West and the Midlands.
Mel Kettle, client services director of Gateway, added: “There is little doubt that Central London remains a hot spot of activity with the picture a little more subdued as you move further out.

“The building society sector is maintaining good activity levels and the impending end of the Stamp Duty holidays for first-time buyers have all contributed to a strong start to the year.
“Discussions with lenders and estate agents across the region make us firmly believe that this increased level of business is sustainable and that is why we are investing in building up our in-house team both in London and other areas showing steady demand.”
