Mortgage customers overcharged as RBS and NatWest problems continue
A number of customers with RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank have had extra mortgage and loan payments incorrectly taken out of their accounts.
The firm said last week that it had fixed the vast majority of its IT problems which besieged the company recently, but it appears some problems remain with some customers being debited twice for their mortgage payments.
The bank confirmed to Mortgage Solutions that a number of accounts have had duplicate payments taken, but that the bank would refund any money as soon as possible.
The lender also said that it would continue to refund any charges and fines incurred due to its systems failure.
It urges all NatWest, RBS and Ulster Bank mortgage customers to check their accounts and to contact the bank immediately if any extra payments are found to have been taken.
A spokeswoman for the bank told Mortgage Solutions: “We are aware of the problem. Any customers who have been affected by this should contact us immediately through our website, by phone or in one of our branches.”
