Dave Gillam, national account manager for TSB, is leaving the bank to work on the intermediary proposition at Tesco Bank, a source at TSB has confirmed.

Previous to his 18-month stint at TSB, Gillam worked as head of intermediary sales and national accounts for ING Direct, before joining Barclays – which purchased ING in 2013 – as the bank’s national new build manager.

He has also held positions at Royal Bank of Scotland, Intelligent Finance and Standard Life. Gillam left TSB last week and is currently on gardening leave before he joins Tesco.

Tesco is planning to open its mortgage offering to brokers for the first time in 2016, with a report in the Telegraph published earlier this year confirming that its intermediary proposition would launch in the first half of next year.

In April, Tesco launched its first 95% loan-to-value range aimed at first-time buyers with rates starting from 4.49%.

Tesco would not comment on the appointment. A spokeswoman at the bank said: “We don’t comment on this type of speculation and, as previously stated, we intend to offer mortgages through brokers in 2016.”

Roland McCormack, TSB intermediary director, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the important part Dave has played in the successful launch of our intermediary business and I wish him well in his new role.”
