Hampshire Trust Bank has expanded its commercial mortgage department with the recruitment of three underwriters to assess applications across its SME-finance, buy-to-let, bridging and commercial divisions.

Jude Miranda joins Hampshire from Shawbrook Bank where he held the position of lending manager. Kris Siva was formerly a mortgage adviser at TSB. Robert Mynott previously worked for Metro Bank as a credit manager.

Siva said he left TSB for Hampshire in pursuit of career progression. “The chance to join a reputable organisation that has just established its mortgage division was too good an opportunity to miss,” he said. “We are building a strong underwriting team with a firm focus on customer service.”

Colin Bell, managing director of commercial mortgages at Hampshire Trust Bank, said: “As a former mortgage broker myself, I recognise how important speed and efficiency are in this sector and having a dedicated team of underwriters will enable us to further develop and enhance our service to the intermediary sector.”

Hampshire Trust Bank offers four commercial mortgages products; buy to let and commercial, bridging finance, refurbishment finance and development exit finance, with loan amounts from £100,000 to £10m.

Colin Bell blogs about the bridging and commercial markets for Specialist Lending Solutions. In his latest blog, Bell talks about skills needed to be an outstanding bridging underwriter.
