Estate agent warned over outdated listings – ASA
An estate agent has been ordered to ensure that it keeps its listings up to date after it was the subject of a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The complainant contacted the ASA to argue that a property listing from Sequence ‒ an appointed representative of Connells ‒ was misleading as the property was no longer on the market.
After being contacted Sequence agreed to remove the listing.
The ASA warned Sequence to ensure that in future it updates all listings as soon as it discovers that a property is no longer for sale, and informally closed the case.
It’s the second time this month that the ASA has had to step in over outdated property listings. The last case involved Houser, which was running an advert for a property which dated back to when it was actually on the market in 2016.
Houser refused to respond to any correspondence from the ASA.
