Mortgage and insurance advice firm Barnsdale Financial Management has hired Deborah Reeves as its financial adviser.

Reeves joins from long-term fixed rate mortgage lender Perenna, where she was a national account manager for two years.

The lender announced the appointment of Steve Mannakee as national account manager today.

Reeves previously worked as a self-employed mortgage and protection adviser, and Barnsdale Financial Management said her appointment demonstrated the firm’s commitment to expanding its services.

Reeves (pictured) said of her appointment: “It has been a fantastic experience to be part of a start-up bank, something not many can say. From our market launch to becoming a recognised name in the broker landscape, it’s something I am really proud of and wouldn’t trade.

“My decision is not a reflection on Perenna at all, I simply know that now is the right time for me to return to the client-facing side of our industry.”

Reeves said she spent time as a broker and always knew she would come back to the sector.

She added: “Helping people into homeownership and beyond, sometimes making the seemingly impossible happen, is incredibly rewarding and something I’ve missed. The knowledge I have gained since my time as a broker, whilst working on the lender side of the market is invaluable, I feel now more than ever I am in the ideal position to advise and support my clients.

“Understanding the mechanics of a lender and working alongside some great people in the process gives me a great advantage. Personally, I also feel ready, I’m in a place where I can give my best self to the people who choose to trust me with their journey.”

Reeves said Barnsdale Financial Management stood for “support and the best possible service” and its brand had client care “right at the heart”.

“I wanted a home for my business that I could be proud to represent, and I can honestly say I already am. On top of that, I never want to stop learning, Scott’s experience and knowledge are something I know I will benefit from. Hopefully, I can contribute to this as well,” she added.

Scott Taylor-Barr, principal adviser at Barnsdale Financial Management, said: “We are absolutely over the moon that someone of Debs’ calibre and industry connections has chosen to collaborate with us.

“We’re extremely excited to be able to help support her to deliver first-class service to her clients, helping her to ensure that her practice grows and prospers in line with her ambitions.”

Reeves will support clients on fixed rate deals, especially those working in sports and the media, and directors of limited companies.
