In a speech earlier this month, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) CEO Nikhil Rathi said later life lending would be a key area of the market in the future and that it should not be a “last resort”.
He added that advice was a crucial area, questioning whether all advisers should be able to advise on lifetime products or if a market-wide referral scheme should be implemented.
This, along with figures showing that more borrowers are using equity release to repay mortgages and that equity release lending is on the rise again, makes the Later Life Lending Event 2026 one that cannot be missed.

The event brings together key providers of later life lending, including banks, building societies and specialist equity release providers, along with advisers, to discuss key themes in the later life lending space, as well as providing a space to debate and exchange ideas.

The event will take place on 4 February at Hilton Bankside, London.
Danielle Moore, operations director at AE3 Media, said: “The later life lending sector is not only on the regulator’s radar as an area of growth but is rebounding after several challenging years.
“More and more customers are going to need later life lending, making it a key area for advisers to keep up to date with and learn more about in order to give the best advice to the customer.
“The Later Life Lending Event will offer insights on key opportunities and challenges, as well as networking opportunities where we can debate and innovate.”
