The network said this demonstrated its investment in the private medical insurance (PMI) proposition and expansion of its presence in this market.
TRM has established a dedicated specialist division to support advisers in identifying and addressing gaps in the intermediary market for PMI advice and support.
Penkethman will oversee PMI firm supervisors and trainees, provide training and support and drive forward the network’s PMI proposition.
She will be responsible for coaching and monitoring advisers, conducting development calls, supporting Training and Competence programmes, assisting with inductions and training delivery, and contributing to key PMI projects, including system implementation.
Penkethman brings more than 10 years of experience to the role and has previously worked as a business development manager and an adviser. This includes roles at Bupa and AXA Health, where she supported advisers and helped them achieve PMI targets.

She also previously worked at Everywhen as a senior employee benefits consultant, advising on PMI, international PMI, dental and cash plans. Penkethmen then took on a management role and oversaw one of the largest renewal portfolios at the business, while coaching and developing her team.
Penkethman’s appointment comes shortly after TRM recruited Sandra Fuelle as insurance development manager, aiming to strengthen its PMI offering for members.
Amy Wilson, head of insurance at TRM, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Gemma to the team at an important time for our PMI and healthcare proposition. Her appointment reflects our continued growth in this space and our commitment to building a specialist division that supports advisers in delivering high-quality PMI advice.
“With recent strategic hires and ongoing investment, we are focused on addressing the clear opportunity within the intermediary market for a stronger, more specialist PMI offering, and Gemma will play a key role in helping us, and our member firms, achieve this.”
Penkethman (pictured) said: “I am excited to be joining TRM to support the further growth of its PMI proposition. I look forward to supporting advisers and contributing to the continued development of this specialist area.”
