Figures from HRMC show that year-on-year stamp duty receipts are 17% up on June 2025, when sales generated £1.06bn.
Over the two-month period from April 2026 to June 2026, £5.1bn in stamp duty was collected, up £0.5bn on same period last year.
Inheritance tax receipts, meanwhile, reached their highest level on record, increasing by 19% between May and June to £871m. In June 2025, £738m in inheritance tax was collected.
Receipts amounted to £2.3bn over the two-month period between April and June – up £96m compared to the same period last year.
On his second day as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham has already received a list of demands from the property industry, including reforming stamp duty.
