Abbey for Intermediaries (AfI) has launched a new broker division called the 'associate accounts' team.

The team, which will operate in a similar vein to the ‘key accounts’ division, will consist of ten mortgage brokers who will have a commercial arrangement and a closer working relationship with AfI.

Adrian Whittaker, key accounts director at AfI, said the goal of the division was to strengthen ties with brokers and offer them commercial opportunities.

He added: “This is about expanding our level of involvement in the industry and in those brokers who have a mutual interest in working more closely with us.

“In developing this proposition we hope to engage more closely with companies to ensure we are doing all we can to support their business strategy”, he added.

To support the new associate accounts team, AfI has appointed Claire Chick, previously a sales manager at AfI, to the role of national key account manager.

Claire Chick, national key accounts manager at AfI, said: “The associate accounts represents an important part of our ongoing commitment to have a closer working relationship with the intermediary community and I am sure the market as a whole will benefit from this.”
