Barclays to send mortgage leads to brokers
Barclays is set to start generating leads for mortgage advisers using its popular Barclays Homeowner app as part of ongoing plans to work more closely with the intermediary channel.

The consumer-facing app, which was launched in partnership with property portal Zoopla earlier this year, includes mortgage affordability calculators and property search tools.

Customers who use the app and are interested in taking out a mortgage are currently directed to Barclays’ advisers, but the lender will make changes to the app this summer in order to start sending leads to local mortgage brokers based on the location details provided by the user.

All advisers who have conducted business with Barclays’ intermediary arm Woolwich will be eligible to appear on the app and the lender is currently in the process of contacting these brokers ahead of its launch.

A spokesperson for Barclays said that the changes were part of a wider plan to forge stronger relationships with the intermediary market.

“We launched our Homebuyer app to really help house hunters navigate through the home-buying process with ease. Whilst on the move – it is a one stop shop that offers quick access to a range of valuable features to help people find their ideal home.

“We recognise the value of the intermediary market and respect customer choice and are committed to working together with brokers as partners, which is why we’re planning to integrate broker details into the app this year.”
