Rob Jupp appointed chair of bridging body
Brightstar Financial chief executive Rob Jupp has been appointed chairman of the Association of Bridging Professionals (AOBP).

Jupp (pictured) will take over the position on September 1 replacing Jonathan Newman, principal partner at Brightstone Law, who has led the association since 2011.

Newman will continue to take an active role within the organisation as part of its executive committee.

“It’s an honour to be taking over the chairmanship from Jonathan after a very successful two years with him at the helm,” said Jupp. “The short-term sector has experienced exponential growth – and it’s crucial that we have a relevant trade body at its epicentre.

“I am determined to ensure that we continue to have a positive dialogue with the FCA and, where appropriate, to use disciplinary processes within our constitution to root out inappropriate practices that could tarnish the short term community.”

Newman added: “As new entrants with innovative business models appear, it will be one of the chairman’s responsibilities to ensure that processes continue to uphold best practice standards for the good of the members and the wider market.”

Jupp will make his first speech as AOBP chair at its annual general meeting on October 24.
