Stonebridge grows network with three ex-Legal and General firms
Stonebridge has continued its growth plans with the recruitment of three former Legal and General appointed representative (AR) firms taking its membership to 196 firms with 394 individual advisers.

The Premier Network is based in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland and is run by Aiden Corry and Paul McCurry. Mansfield Begbie has offices in Luton and Swindon and is has two practice principles, Mike Rees and Ian Winchester. Premier Mortgage Services is based in Nottingham and has three principles Roy Clark, Michael Ilston and Tony Hall.

Legal and General announced its intention to close its network earlier this year with plans to continue working only with directly authorised brokers. While its ARs are free to move to any distributor, Stonebridge and Mortgage Advice Bureau are L&G’s preferred partners.

In an interview with Mortgage Solutions, Stonebridge managing director Richard Adams (pictured) said by the end of 2016 he expects to have 500 advisers on board. Adams said that while recent new recruits have been larger companies, supporting small advisory firms remains its core business.

Stonebridge has a further 30 advisers currently in the process of being approved before officially joining the network.

Earlier this year Stonebridge Group announced that Shepherd Direct, the national property services group with interests in surveying, valuations, lettings and estate agency, had acquired a minority stake in the business
