Legal and General has launched an income protection (IP) adviser hub aimed at helping intermediaries support their clients’ protection needs.

This includes benefit calculators, guides to income protection, as well as other tools and resources to help show the benefits of IP to their customers.

The insurer said it wants to raise awareness of the importance of IP in protecting a client’s lifestyle and income, as well as simplifying its offering to make it easier for intermediaries to explain the benefits of the product to customers.

Craig Brown, director of Legal and General Intermediary (pictured), said that while critical illness cover and life insurance were often the first protection solutions, for many customers IP could play an equally important role.

He added: “Income protection could provide a monthly benefit should the client be unable to work due to incapacity caused by illness or injury resulting in a loss of earnings.
