Santander joins Moneysupermarket’s execution-only product transfer platform
Santander has become the second lender to pilot an online execution-only product transfer through Moneysupermarket’s Podium platform.

Existing Santander borrowers can compare deals and complete the transfer online should they wish to stay with the lender. The price comparison site said that they can look to remortgage to a rival lender through Podium now too.

The Santander tie-up follows Nationwide’s pilot on the platform back in May.

Users are given the option of speaking to brokers about the mortgage products highlighted, with Fluent Money joining London & Country as broker partners for the service.

Andy Hancock, chief customer officer at Moneysupermarket Group, said the Santander link was a “great milestone” in its bid to “transform the digital mortgage experience”.

He continued: “With Nationwide’s pilot live, discussions progressing with other lenders and two leading broker partners integrated, we are building real momentum in our strategy to deliver the first digitised comparison-to-completion mortgage switching experience for our customers, with a new level of choice, control and transparency.”

A spokesperson for Moneysupermarket said that borrowers were being given “control over their mortgage journey” by being presented with the option of speaking to a broker or dealing with the lender directly.

Questioned on whether further brokers may be added to the panel, they said: “At the moment we are focused on these two broker partners and our broker solution will always aim to mirror what we feel the customer need is.

“It may be that further down the line we explore other broker relationships but for the time being we have no plans for additional brokers.”
