Kelly Bretherton has been appointed head of Ignite by Legal & General's (L&G’s) Mortgage Services business, to build on the platform’s success and deliver better outcomes for advisers.

Bretherton started her 26-year career in financial services as a mortgage adviser and spent 18 years working for technology firms Trigold and then Iress.

She was head of product for intermediary mortgages at Iress for nearly nine years, responsible for product sourcing and advice software, CRM implementation, mortgage product data and customer research.

L&G’s Ignite is a free integrated mortgage research platform that aims to help advisers find the right lender and mortgage products for their clients.

Users are able to search lending criteria, use an affordability calculator, source products and access property-checking tools.

Kevin Roberts, managing director of Mortgage Services at L&G, said: “Kelly’s appointment is an exciting and significant step forward for Ignite. The mortgage market is evolving at pace, so it’s crucial that we adapt and equip our teams to provide the best possible support to consumers, advisers and lenders. The Ignite platform is central to our strategy at L&G’s Mortgage Services business, and Kelly’s arrival helps ensure we continue to deliver a market-leading service for our brokers and their clients.
