Packagers have had to evolve their businesses to survive the last decade and brokers should have confidence in using them, specialist lender Together has said.

Speaking on Specialist Lending Solutions Television, Together group intermediary relationships director Richard Tugwell said using packagers was now an important way to access the specialist market.

“Any broker that would have dealt with a packager 10 years ago, it’s a different market,” he said.

“Packagers that have gone through the last few years and survived that market have adapted their business to suit the market and to suit the type of brokers in this market.

“If anyone’s dealt with them previously but not dealt with them for a while then try again because it’s a different way of getting to market,” he added.

Legal & General Mortgage Club head of lender relationships Danny Belton echoed Tugwell’s views that packagers had moved with the times.

“The packager community have suffered and not seen as much business as they perhaps should have done,” he said.
