Recognise Bank and Roma Finance make BDM hires
SME lender Recognise Bank has made a trio of business development manager (BDM) hires to focus on London and the Midlands as it continues its national expansion.

The hires include former Assetz Capital relationship director Stuart Benge (pictured), who will focus on the Midlands, along with ex-HSBC relationship manager Andrew Oppe who in turn will focus on London. They both join as relationship directors.

Sam Shooter, who worked at Met Traders as a commodities derivatives trader, will take on the role of business development manager.

Recognise Bank’s regional director for London and the Midlands Jackie Skelt said: “There is a buzz in the regions among SMEs who see a great opportunity to grow their businesses as we start to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

“As a result, they want to talk to lenders that understand them and don’t treat them as a tick box exercise. This is an exciting time for Recognise, so I am delighted that Stuart, Andrew and Sam are joining us to offer the understanding and expertise that is needed.”

Recognise Bank was launched in November last year as an SME lender and currently offers commercial mortgages, bridging loans, professional practice loans and working capital loans.

There are plans to offer professional buy-to-let mortgages in the near future, with business and personal savings accounts to be launched later this year.

According to the lender it has received £500m in loan applications and aims to provide more than £1.5bn of business lending over the next five years.

Roma Finance appoints London and Southeast BDM

Second charge, bridging and development finance lender Roma Finance has appointed Kirsty Botten as its BDM for London and the Southeast.

She joins from specialist finance broker Finspace, where she worked for the past two years as bridging and development finance broker. Prior to that she worked as a bridging underwriter at Only Bridging for around two years.

Roma Finance’s national sales manager Steve Smith said: “I am delighted to welcome Kirsty to the business and thrilled with the expansion of the new business team. The demand we are experiencing continues to climb and it is essential that we exceed our partners expectations every time.

“We are doing this by developing a knowledgeable and empowered team, enabling us to stick to our decisions and provide a slick and certain service throughout.”
