The Brightstar Group achieves carbon neutral certificate
Brightstar Group has become certified as a carbon neutral business by calculating and offsetting its carbon emissions across the company.

The group, which includes Brightstar Financial and Sirius Property Finance, teamed up with Carbon Neutral Britain to calculate its emissions, which have now been offset through the Woodland Fund Portfolio of carbon offsetting projects globally.

The group has been certified as carbon neutral by Carbon Neutral Britain and it will also receive a carbon reduction plan to cut future emissions.

Carbon Neutral Britain is the UK’s carbon offsetting initiative and was launched in 2020. It has offset more than 500,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and planted over three million trees.

William Lloyd-Hayward (pictured), group COO at the Brightstar Group, said: “We are delighted to once again be leading the way within the specialist distribution sector in achieving this landmark Carbon Neutral status for the Brightstar Group.

“A huge thank you and well done to our Carbon Neutral Working Group, led by Ben Hall, who has brought together people from across Brightstar and Sirius in a collaborative effort to achieve this status for the group.

ESG more than ‘just an acronym’

He added: “ESG isn’t just an acronym to us, it is a thread that runs through the culture in our business. This is just the beginning for us as we now focus on how we can continue to make a real and genuine positive impact on our environment.”

Ben Hall, head of admin at Sirius Property Finance and Group Carbon Neutral Lead, continued: “Brightstar Group takes great pride in demonstrating corporate and social responsibility, leading by example to promote positive change within our industry and society.

“As a business that assists our customers with making long-term decisions and commitments, it is only right that we now look to the future and examine the impact of our activities and behaviour on our shared global environment.”

He added: “Achieving carbon neutral certification is the first step of our ongoing commitment to monitor and minimise the impact of our business and I am proud to be part of this crucial effort.”
