The FSA has revealed it would like increased powers to ban individuals from the financial services industry while it is still investigating them for alleged wrongdoing.
At present the regulator is unable to ban anyone who it is investigating until an investigation has been completed.
The FSA’s Tracey McDermott said the present situation allowed individuals to carry on working in the industry, no matter how strong the case against them.
