MMR affordability checks could strangle mortgage approvals
Financial services in the UK has been dogged by over-regulation and a history of quangocrats closing stable doors – MMR is just the latest example of unnecessary nannying which will prevent many people from taking responsibility for their own actions and, at the same time, deny them the chance to own their own homes.
Still, with a hundred rules a day being produced by the ever-expanding FCA, we can rest assured that its own fat cats can continue in the gilt-edged lifestyle to which they have become accustomed.

L&G to challenge banks on lending to larger SMEs
It is about time that there is more competition within the commercial lending sector. The mid-SME sector has suffered with only a handful of lenders “actually” wanting to lend on any and reasonable terms. As a commercial mortgage desk, we welcome new lenders.
Be interesting to see what happens with L&G.
