Star Letter 23/05/14
Each week Mortgage Solutions picks the best reader contributions from our article comments and letters to the editor.

Each week, we also round-up the best comments, emails and letters to the site and pick one reader contribution as our Star Letter. This week’s award goes to:

Secret testing criteria risks stressing the market – Toni Smith

I completely agree with Toni, and this very topic caused quite a furore at the conference held at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, a few months ago.

All lenders have always had differing criteria, but in days gone by mortgage brokers knew what lender would be the most appropriate for any particular client.

More importantly with many lenders now charging non-refundable upfront fees just to look at a case (and perhaps decline it), it has never been more vital that brokers have all underwriting criteria information available to ensure best advice is given to each and every client, or why else do we have ‘Treat Customers Fairly’ as a mantra.
