Earl Shilton Building Society raises over £1,600 for local charity
Earl Shilton Building Society (ESBS) has raised £1,689 for the charity Leicester Samaritans.

The money was raised through a series of fundraising events including a 100km run/walk challenge, a World Cup sweepstake, donations, and contributions for completed questionnaires.

Chosen as the mutuals charity of the year for the 2022/2023, Leicester Samaritans has supported the community for over 60 years. The 130 staff members enable the charity to provide around the clock support 365 days a year.

The mutual has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support for as its charity to support for the financial year 2023/2024 which provides physical, financial, and emotional support to those with cancer.

Sara Sheard, branch director at Leicester Samaritans, said: “We sincerely thank ESBS for choosing to support us, and raising this fantastic amount through a variety of efforts. Our volunteers respond to a call for help every 10 seconds, and we rely on donations like these to be able to continue supporting anyone who needs us, both now and in the future.”

Paul Tilley (pictured), chief executive of ESBS, added: “Our colleagues and customers make donations like this possible, and I’m very proud of their continued enthusiasm.”

“Macmillan does such a wonderful job of taking care of people affected by cancer and we’re delighted to support them this year.”
