Santander begins rebrand
Santander has begun the rebrand of its Abbey and Bradford & Bingley branches under one name, with 300 branches in the South East to be renamed today.
Another 700 branches across the UK will be completed by the end of January and Alliance & Leicester branches will be rebranded later in the year.
Abbey for Intermediaries will remain in place as Abbey said that its research has shown that intermediaries value the relationships built under the ‘Abbey for Intermediary’ brand.
Ricky Okey, managing director at Abbey for Intermediaries, said: “We believe that by having a separate intermediary brand we will be able to develop our relationship with the broker community more effectively through differentiated marketing and product strategies and we will continue to develop propositions tailored to meet the specific needs of the intermediary market.”
He added that the decision to maintain the brand was not driven by a desire to dual price to the detriment of the broker.
