61,000 new tenants entered market in Q3
Countrywide has revealed that a record-breaking 61,000 new tenants entered the property market in Q3 – an increase of 19% from the previous quarter.
Tenant applications also rose by 44% during 2010, with a further 20,000 applications filed in the month of July.
A Countrywide spokesperson said: “The government needs to do more to incentivise property investors and make finance more readily available.
“With all signs indicating that more and more property owners are turning to buy to let, something needs to be done to get more properties onto the market.”
The group’s research also revealed that 5.8 tenants are currently vying for every property investment, up 0.3% from Q2.
It also revealed that couples under 35 made up the highest percentage of new tenant applications this year.
