Santander extends completion deadlines on new-build products
Santander has launched a new range of intermediary exclusive fixed rates for new-build buyers with extended completion deadlines.
Customers are able to reserve a rate for up to nine months now, with shorter completion times highlighted at the inaugural British New Homes Mortgage Senate last year as a key impediment to business for mortgage advisers.
Brokers said the difficulty involved in tying up completion on both property and financing meant mortgage offers elapsed before the building site or property deal completed.
The new-build exclusives include a two-and-a-half year fixed rate at 2.04% at 75% LTV with a £995 booking fee; and a five-year fixed rate at 3.99% at 85% LTV also with a £995 booking fee.
Santander has also reduced rates by up to 0.75% on its intermediary fixed and tracker Help To Buy equity loan mortgages. A two-year tracker at 75% LTV now has an initial pay rate of 2.49% with no booking fee. The two-year fixed rate at 75% LTV now stands at 2.99% with no fee, and the five-year fixed rate at 3.29%.
Santander has also set up a dedicated “New Build Desk” to support brokers with clients purchasing a new-build property.
