Mortgage Solutions’ senior reporter, Hannah Uttley (pictured middle right) won mortgage journalist of the year (B2B) at the annual Headlinemoney awards with the online magazine’s deputy editor Samantha Partington taking the highly commended slot.

The judges commented that Hannah lifted the award for her range of stories covering the City watchdog’s failure to provide a clear definition as part of the Mortgage Credit Directive, foreign currency loans and the equity release sector.

One judge said: “This was a strong submission for a professional audience.”

The judges were also impressed with Samantha Partington’s submissions which tackled stories from the less mainstream parts of the mortgage market, like the complex world of permission changes, which also ‘held relevance for her audience’.

On the consumer side, The Telegraph’s Money section Nicola Blackmore won the award (pictured middle left), with freelancer Holly Thomas gaining Highly Commended.

The annual awards, hosted by comedian Miles Jupp, played out to a packed room of PRs, industry members and journalists last night at The Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.
