Lee Rowley appointed housing minister
Conservative MP for North East Derbyshire, Lee Rowley (pictured), has been appointed to the role of housing minister, taking over from Marcus Jones who has held the role since July.
In a tweet he said he was delighted to join Simon Clarke, who is secretary of state for the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and the DLUHC as housing and planning minister.
He added: “A big job ahead to further help raise standards and service across the sector, to improve how planning works for local communities and, vitally, to empower more people achieve their dream of home ownership.”
Rowley has been a Conservative MP for North East Derbyshire since 2017. He was most recently parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy between 2021 and 2022.
Before that he was government whip for Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury from 2021 to 2022.

The fourth housing minister of 2022
This year alone there have been three housing ministers. This includes Christopher Pincher, Stuart Andrew and Marcus Jones.
Rowley is the 13th housing minister over the past 12 years. Previous appointments have included Esther McVey, Kit Malthouse and Dominic Raab.
There has been criticism from the mortgage industry that the frequent turnover of housing ministers is detrimental to long-term housing strategy.
