Stephen Cowdell has returned to Iress as senior business development manager (BDM) after three years at advice software firm 360 Lifecycle, where he was head of intermediary sales.

Cowdell has rejoined Iress as the company says demand for its mortgage and protection technology, Xplan Mortgage, has increased. This comes after significant investment in the technology by Iress.

Cowdell previously worked at Iress for seven years as a key account manager, and the company said he had gained broader cross-sector experience and a “refreshed view” of the market in his time away.

In his new role as senior BDM, Cowdell will support firms that are using Iress’ sourcing technology, including The Exchange and Xplan Mortgage, as well as react to trends in the advice and mortgage markets.

He has over two decades of experience in financial services, and has worked across mortgage networks, clubs, digital advisers and online aggregators. Cowdell also has experience as a financial adviser.

Warren O’Connell, head of business development at Iress, said: “I am delighted to welcome Stephen back to Iress. His deep understanding of the market, combined with his experience outside the business, will be a real asset to our clients and to Iress as we continue to evolve our mortgage and protection proposition.

“Stephen has built strong relationships across the industry and will play an important role in supporting both existing clients and the increasing demand for Xplan Mortgage.”

Cowdell added: “Iress has always felt like home. My experience at 360 Lifecycle, including extensive exposure across sourcing systems, strengthened my understanding of the mortgage technology market and reinforced what differentiates Iress – its proposition, people and partnership-led approach.

“I’m excited to return at a time of continued investment in mortgage technology and increasing market demand.”
